Essex cricket director Chris Silverwood 剛經歷了一周過山車。七天前他們提前一天擊敗 Hampshire，轉頭就被 Somerset 三天速通，首局只拿了 149 分。
「Cricket is a great leveller and we've found ourselves on the receiving end this week，」Silverwood 對 BBC Essex 說。這位前英格蘭國家隊主帥沒找借口，只甩了一句：「Losing two wickets in five minutes before lunch really took the wind out of our sails.」
第二局他們曾追到 131-3，Silverwood 以為還有戲。結果隔天早上又崩了，245 分收場，Somerset 六局就收割比賽。「Defending such a small score like that, it usually happens in a rush，」他承認，「We needed more runs to play with.」
周五他們要在 Edgbaston 打 Warwickshire，隊長 Tom Westley 和南非外援 Wiaan Mulder 都待定。Westley 手指裂了道口子還帶點骨裂，Silverwood 的原話是：「Let's see if he can get the glove on and hold the bat first.」
