據SAR報道，有新消息源向其爆料，由于全畫幅電影攝影機FX2銷量不佳，索尼有意通過固件更新為其提供更多功能，以求“促銷”。新固件將主要包含以下兩項更新：
1）新增1.2倍裁切4K50P/4K60P(現在是1.5倍裁切)
2）新增點對點4K120P（這一項目前還在做穩定性測試）
