紐約綜合新聞巴黎消息2025年11月9日晚，當(dāng)?shù)貢r間，法國華人海外協(xié)會會議廳燈火通明，一戰(zhàn)華工專題紀(jì)念會議在此隆重召開。百余位中外精英齊聚一堂，深入回顧歷史，展望中法友誼新篇章。此次會議由法國法華工商聯(lián)合會協(xié)辦，旨在傳承華工精神，推動兩國人文交流。

王玉龍緬懷首位華人入伍者馬玉寶：“1916年投身外籍軍團(tuán)，開創(chuàng)先河。其獻(xiàn)身鑄就中法聯(lián)盟。今天頌揚(yáng)14萬華工，他們筑和平基石。凱旋門圣火，是團(tuán)結(jié)忠誠永恒誓言。”

丁世定表示：“百年前華工穿越戰(zhàn)火，鑄自由基石。凱旋門獻(xiàn)花，是和平守望。僑界融入法國，推動民心相通。”

法國法華工商聯(lián)合會成立于1993年10月22日巴黎，是法國華人首個行業(yè)性愛國社團(tuán)，會員主要為20世紀(jì)70年代后移居法國的華人企業(yè)，從最初40多家發(fā)展至近300家，從事國際貿(mào)易、餐飲、金融、物流等領(lǐng)域。宗旨是促進(jìn)華商團(tuán)結(jié)，加強(qiáng)與法國工商界溝通合作，擴(kuò)大與中國工商界往來，拓展中法貿(mào)易。

Wang Guoquan Attends Paris WWI Chinese Laborers Thematic Conference: Building the Bridge of Sino-French Peace

New York Comprehensive News, Paris Report　On the evening of November 9, 2025 local time, the conference hall of the French Chinese Overseas Association in Paris was brightly lit for a special thematic conference on WWI Chinese laborers. Over 100 elites from China and abroad gathered to review history and envision prospects for Sino-French friendship. Co-sponsored by the France-China Business Federation, the event aimed to pass on the laborers’ spirit and advance bilateral cultural exchanges.

Renowned international host, “Prince of Love Songs,” and moderator of the 69th UN World Women’s Conference official forum Wang Guoquan (Prince John) attended the conference for the first time upon the gracious invitation of Ma Lan, Executive Vice President and Women’s Director of the France-China Business Federation (a co-sponsor), and Dong Fengzhen, President of the France Love Group. As a distinguished guest, Wang brought his unique artistic perspective and global influence, enriching the Sino-French dialogue.

Wang Guoquan enjoys widespread international acclaim. Earlier this year, he held a solo concert at New York City Hall, blending Sino-Western musical traditions; moderated high-profile cultural events at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Columbia University, fostering art-academia ties; and participated in U.S.-China cultural initiatives in Brooklyn, connecting youth across borders. New York State Senators and City Council members presented awards in person, recognizing his role as a cultural bridge. He has also been honored by UNESCO, the UN Caribbean Community Foundation, and the UN Global Women’s Foundation for his long-term contributions to global culture and humanitarian efforts.

Known as the “Friend of International Women,” Wang Guoquan moderated the official forum of the 69th UN World Women’s Conference at UN Headquarters earlier this year, advocating for gender equality and peaceful development. His platform has shared the stories of Chinese laborers with the global peace ambassador network, enhancing the influence of Sino-French historical narratives.

Recently in Paris, Wang Guoquan has participated in a series of cultural activities, blending his artistic journey with historical commemorations. On November 6, he attended the opening of the “Printemps Asiatique” exhibition at the Cernuschi Museum, promoting Sino-French artistic exchanges. On November 7, beneath the Eiffel Tower, he interviewed Noodles (real name Kevin Wasserman), guitarist of The Offspring, bridging rock music with Sino-French cultural themes and highlighting the band’s global impact. These events added cultural depth to the conference.

At the conference venue, Wang Guoquan arrived in an elegant green suit, attentively listening to speeches and actively engaging in discussions. His presence sparked lively discussions. During a prior commemoration at the Arc de Triomphe, several guests and visitors recognized this international celebrity, saying, “We often see French Chinese forwarding Wang Guoquan’s video reports in our friend circles—it’s a familiar face.” Wang responded humbly, sharing details of his recent Paris itinerary and further connecting rock artistry with historical memory.

French Foreign Legion former commander and Overseas Military Association President General Jean Moulin, Paris Recruitment Group Commander Colonel Jean-Philippe Dieuhargout, Counselor Wan Lei from the Consular Department of the Chinese Embassy in France, President of the Chinese Veterans Association of the Foreign Legion Wang Yulong, First Vice President of the Chinese Overseas Association Ding Shiding, President of the Qingtian Hometown Association Zhou Wei, President of the Wencheng Friendship Association Zhu Liangshun, Secretary-General of the China-France Chamber of Commerce Ren Jiaodan, First Executive Vice President of the China-France Friendship Mutual Aid Association Chen Chenghui, President of the Chinese Youth Association Chen Jiahui, and Chair of the WWI Chinese Laborers Art and Culture Memorial Alliance Ye Feiyan were among the Chinese and foreign guests in attendance, joining hands in this momentous event.

During breaks in the conference, Wang Guoquan engaged in in-depth exchanges with Ma Lan, General Moulin, Foreign Legion representatives, Zhu Liangshun, Wang Yulong, veteran representatives, and Ye Feiyan. To Ma Lan, he said, “The laborers’ stories have shown me the deep roots of Sino-French friendship—such conferences are true bridges.” Ma Lan shared her France-China Business Women’s Empowerment Project, and the two discussed integrating the laborers’ spirit into contemporary business and art; Wang emphasized the central role of women in cultural exchanges. With General Moulin and Colonel Dieuhargout, Wang discussed the legends of the Foreign Legion and the inheritance of Chinese laborer descendants, reaching a consensus that the military ties between China and France remain enduring. In conversation with Wang Yulong, Wang noted that music can transform history into eternal melodies; with Zhu Liangshun, he explored the global fusion of local cultures; and with Ye Feiyan, he shared ideas on artistic inheritance, with Ye praising his bridging role. These dialogues transcended boundaries, inspiring attendees to reflect on Sino-French integration.

The conference began with a video playback of the Arc de Triomphe ceremony, with Wang Guoquan seated in the front row. Counselor Wan Lei addressed the gathering: “History is our shared scroll, from which we draw wisdom to propel us forward. De Gaulle and the laborers are monuments to our two nations. The overseas Chinese forever remember France’s aid, and China’s affinity for France stems from soul-deep mutual appreciation.”

Wang Yulong paid tribute to the first Chinese enlistee, Ma Yubao: “In 1916, he joined the Foreign Legion, blazing a trail. His sacrifice forged the Sino-French alliance. Today, we honor the 140,000 laborers who built the foundation of peace. The eternal flame at the Arc de Triomphe is a vow of unity and loyalty.”

Ding Shiding stated: “A century ago, the laborers crossed through flames of war to lay the cornerstone of freedom. The floral tribute at the Arc de Triomphe is a vigil for peace. Our diaspora integrates into France, fostering people-to-people connectivity.”

Zhou Wei, Zhu Liangshun, Ren Jiaodan, Chen Chenghui, Chen Jiahui, and Ye Feiyan also spoke. Zhou Wei: “Many from Qingtian served, and we engrave the responsibility on future generations.” Ren Jiaodan: “Linking to the 80th anniversary of World War II, the laborers’ spirit safeguards peace.” Ye Feiyan: “The alliance disseminates these stories, with art empowering youth confidence.”

General Moulin and Colonel Dieuhargout offered congratulations, saluting the laborers with military honors. The conference concluded in consensus: to deepen the Sino-French alliance.

Afterward, Wang Guoquan reflected: “This conference allowed me to deeply appreciate the century-long contributions of the laborers that have forged today’s honors. Through cultural bridges, we remember sacrifices and ignite the flame of friendship.” He thanked Ma Lan and Dong Fengzhen for the invitation, for introducing him to the laborers’ stories, and expressed gratitude to the organizers: “Thanks to the event hosts, fellow overseas Chinese, and political supporters for accompanying us in safeguarding these memories.”

The France-China Business Federation was established on October 22, 1993, in Paris as the first industry-specific patriotic organization for Chinese in France. Its members are primarily Chinese entrepreneurs who migrated to France after the 1970s, growing from an initial 40 companies to nearly 300 today, engaged in international trade, catering, finance, logistics, and more. Its mission is to promote unity among Chinese businesses, strengthen communication and cooperation with French business circles, expand ties with Chinese business communities, and develop Sino-French trade.

This conference not only reviewed history but also injected new momentum into Sino-French exchanges. Wang Guoquan said: “The invitation from Director Ma Lan and Group Leader Dong has allowed me to experience the pulse of Sino-French relations firsthand. Stories in friend circles show widespread influence; I will incorporate them into my new works to promote global Chinese narratives.” The diaspora community noted that future platforms will carry forward this spark, illuminating the bridge of hearts between the two nations.
